Subject
Italian Ancestry; Italian American Stories
Description
La Storia Morelli-Milano is a collection of historic photographs, documents, newspaper articles and more telling a remarkable story of Italian ancestry. A research project conducted in association with the Italian Studies graduate program, the genealogical dig unearthed rare finds including an 1885 photograph of the Garibaldi-Meucci cottage (now historic museum) picturing my great-great-grandfather Polifonte Morelli with Antonio Meucci, himself. Further gems include the previously unknown story of Adele Cornalba- the most famous prima ballerina assoluta in the U.S.- married to Polifonte from 1880-1894. Finally, a handwritten note from Giacomo Puccini to Polifonte in 1910 adds a high note to this Morelli-Milano legacy.
