Description

II. HIS CLEMENCY
El Greco's Cardinal de Guevara and a close up of Cicciolina sandwich in a text dense with quotations. The role of Clement Greenberg as critic-champion and charismatic megaphone of American abstract expressionism is recalled, as is the face of Helen "that launched a thousand ships and burnt the topless towers of Ilium".

His Clemency hissed hot breath
on his cold greenstonenamourald fingars,
reached for his charismatic megaphonee end begun:
"Is this the face that launched [lunched] a thousand ship
and burnt the topless bars [bras] of ille-illa-illum?
Tobecontinued.
(transcription of the text in the painting)
