July 21, 1945. Letter from Laurina Badia to Danny Badia

Title

July 21, 1945. Letter from Laurina Badia to Danny Badia

Subject

Italian-American, 1943

Description

Danny's mother, Laura, responds in semi-literate Italian to her son's letter. It has been a month to the day since he left, but to her it seems like 15 years. She asks if he has received the candy ("chendi") which she sent him and lets him know that Bob and Jean are home on furlough and that she has enclosed a note from him in this letter. She thanks him for writing in Italian which she is better able to read. She tells him that Leona has come by to mention that they have a surprise to share. The additional note that is enclosed is from Bob, his brother in law, and a sergeant. He gives him the advice of not qualifying when he fires on the range, or else he will be shipped out.
